Welcome!

Hi! I'm Sophie, a 23 y/o documentary filmmaker based in Paris. Coming from both Indonesian and French heritage, I grew up in Jakarta where I was able to attend the French International school, and later on completed my Bachelor's degree in Amsterdam, where I majored in Media & Culture. Upon graduating, I moved to London to pursue my Master's degree at UCL in Ethnography and Documentary Filmmaking, where I learned the ins and outs of the craft, and sharpened my knowledge and technical skills. Before film, I worked as a radio host for 2 years in an independent station in Amsterdam and worked in Marketing at a digital media firm based in Rotterdam. Alongside these ventures, I've been freelancing as a videographer/photographer for a couple of different events/concerts/brands, and I am currently working towards making an independent social media web series about the challenges we face in our 20s.
My filmmaking style is thoroughly based on feelings of nostalgia. I aim, through my storytelling skills, to portray the simple human acts of remembering by touching upon commonalities, such as friendships, family dynamics, animals, and neighborhoods. My biggest project to date has been my graduation film 'From Her Eyes To My Gaze' where I investigate the complex relationship of the mother-daughter dynamic between my own mother and myself, which is a project currently undergoing Festival approvals and reviews.
